Ways to get a shiny Giratina!
Diamond/Pearl/Platinum: Soft resetting (1/8192)
Prep: Master Ball is best. Find in Turnback cave. D/P (Post game)
Pt: Distortion world,
Turnback cave (if you didn't catch it in the distortion world)
1) Save before starting the encounter.
2) Start battle and see if it's shiny.
If not shiny: continue to Step 3 and repeat step 2
If shiny: skip to step 4
3) Soft reset (this could potentially take 10 000s)
4) Catch your shiny!
Black/White/Black 2/White 2:Mystery Gift
Prep: 3DS with internet or DS with wireless tether hotshot
1) Change your Primary DNS settings to 164.132.44.106. during set up. *Make sure you say "no" to "auto obtain DNS") Set secondary DNS to all 0s..
2) Go to "mystery gift" and Collect mystery gifts! There's more than just shiny Giratina! You'll get it eventually.

OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire: Soft resetting (1/4096 or 1/1365) with shiny charm)
Prep: Master Ball is best.
You'll need to have Dialga and Palkia in your party. (The lake trio is required to catch them.) Unfortunately, you can only get 1 depending on the game version you're playing. (You can transfer up from previous games if you got the pokemon bank and transporter)
1) Save before using eon flute. (Make sure you have Dialga and Palkia in your party)
2) Use eon flute and a green tear in the sky should appear, fly into it and encounter Giratina.
If not shiny: continue to Step 3 and repeat step 2
If shiny: skip to step 4
3) Soft reset (this could potentially take 10 000s)
4) Catch your shiny!
UltraSun/UltraMoon: Soft resetting (where I found Cuddles!) (1/4096 or 1/1365) with shiny charm)
Prep: Master Ball is best. You could use the "no struggle strat": Harvest ability with skill swap and trick pokemon holding leppa berry will stop your encounter from struggling. Make sure you bring plenty of pokeballs (ultra, dusk, timer) Have plenty of healing items too so you don't black out. Just like ORAS, you'll need to have both Dialga and Palkia in your party (and yes unfortunately are also version exclusive in these games)
1) At the altar of the Sunne/Moone, travel through the ultra wormhole. (Make sure you have Dialga and Palkia in your party)
2) You'll need to find a yellow portal. Any portal with 3 rings or higher guarantees a legendary.
4) If you found it, it'll say "BISHAAN" Save your game here. If not, go back and repeat until you find it.
5) Encounter Giratina.
If not shiny: continue to Step 6 and repeat step 5
If shiny: skip to step 7
6) Soft reset (this could potentially take 10 000s)
7) Catch your shiny!
TIP: Use roto catch powers if you're not using a master ball!
Sword/Shield: Dynamax adventures (1/300 or 1/100) with shiny charm)
prep: Choose pokeballs you want (100% catch rate!)
You'll need to find Giratina in the max lair first. If you find one says Ghost or Dragon at the end, you may have found it. Also, friends can share their path too! Keep trying to find Giratina
1) Battle through (I recommend using online mode to invite actual people as the NPCs are STUPID.
2) Catch Giratina when you find it
If shiny: Congrats! Choose to keep your Giratina
If not shiny: Choose any of the other 3 pokemon or none. Proceed to next step.
3) They'll ask you if you want to save the Giratina path. YES!
4) Repeat until you get a shiny!
Note: Every Pokémon has and equal chance to be shiny at the end so try avoiding catching other pokemon (unless they're useful for the final battle of course) This reduces the chances of "phases"
BD/SP: Soft resetting (1/4096) - shiny charm doesn't work!!

Pokemon Go: 5 star raids (1/20)
Giratina isn't always available in Pokemon go so make sure you stay up to date with the latest events. It tends to rotate in 5 star raids around halloween. It will either appear in altered forme or origin forme
Prep: find the best counters. (Ghost, Dragon, Dark, Ice, Fairy) Find at least a few more players to join you. Its easier to remote raid (but pricier)
Gl! You can use elite TMs to teach the exclusive move "Shadow force" or sometimes during certain events, they'll already know it when caught!
